Welcome to Cooncraft Maine Coons

Nestled in the rolling hills and under an ocean of sky, Cooncraft is located near Iowa City and the University of Iowa.  We are a small hobby cattery registered with The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA).  We enjoy showing our Maine Coons in both registries.

The cats in our breeding program are genetically screened through Wisdom Panel for 50 genetic and health conditions, including Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK Def), and one mutation (MYBPC-A31P) associated with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) specific to Maine Coons.  Our cats also visit a board-certified veterinary cardiologist for an echocardiogram prior to breeding, and every 12-18 months thereafter.
